If you can spare an hour to get involved, our Patient Group meets in Whitegate Health Centre on the second Wednesday of the month, every other month at 11:00am until 12:00 noon. The schedule for the year is below.
Any of our patients and carers are welcome to attend. Just turn up on the day.

Please note the change of day, to Monday, from August 2024 onwards

2024 meeting dates

Meetings for 2024 have moved to bi-monthly It’s really important that we have an effective Chairperson who can lead the group and keep things relevant and on track. Ideally this will be one of our patients and by way of guidance please access this link if you are interested. Meetings are scheduled for an hour and we like to stick to this.

What is the Patient Participation Group or PPG?

A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of people who are patients of the surgery and want to help it work as well as it can for patients, doctors and staff.

Why should I join?

  • You have been to the surgery as a patient, parent, carer or friend.
  • Your experiences matter and you can bring different ideas to the surgery to help us treat patients better or to improve what we do in some way.
  • You will also gain a better understanding of the NHS, and gather feedback from other patients.

Will my views be heard?

  • Your views are important and will be listened to. It may not be possible to act on every suggestion, but all feedback is very valuable.
  • Working in a spirit of mutual respect, openness and trust, all patients’ views will be discussed and, where appropriate, we will work together on solutions.

What do PPGs do? Review patients’ surveys Listen to patients’ stories and views. Explore ideas and suggestions on how to improve patients’ experiences in the GP Practice. Discuss with GP Practice staff and agree on an action plan for service improvements. Monitor the implementation of the service improvement action plan. Run small projects around patients’ education, health promotion, and improvements to GP Practice environment.

What PPGs do not do? A PPG meeting is not a forum to raise individual complaints. A PPG meeting is not a forum to seek medical advice.

What happens at a PPG meeting? A PPG meeting is attended by the Practice Practice staff when available, and practice patients and carers. The meeting is managed by the Patient Chair The meeting follows an agenda that can look similar to this: *Welcome and introductions *Minutes and actions arising from the last meeting *Updates from GP practice staff *Other agenda items *Patients’ feedback, suggestions and comments *Date of the next meeting The meetings usually last an hour

Could you spare a couple of hours every other month to get involved in our Patient Representative Group meetings

Please contact: Marie Chambers – Practice Manager or Liza Enfield – Reception Manager

We would like to involve patients from as broad a spectrum as possible to get a truly representative sample. We need young people, workers, retirees, people with long term conditions, carers and people from non-British ethnic groups.

We value your input and invite you to come along to our next meeting. You will be very welcome.
